About Atech Turbine Components

Atech Turbine Components was founded in 1990 in Worcester, MA and acquired in 2003 by Aimtek, Inc. Aimtek was started in 1973 by Amar and Ani Kapur from their 3rd Floor apartment and rented garage in Worcester, MA. Amar Kapur emigrated to the U.S. from Mumbai, India to pursue an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Prior to starting Aimtek, Amar worked in the corporate world for respected blue-chip companies such as Caterpillar and DuPont.

Aimtek is a global, award winning manufacturer of high quality brazing and welding filler metals for the aerospace, power generation, and defense industries. Aimtek is a two-time New England Small Business of the Year, three-time Pratt & Whitney Supplier of the Year, and five-time Defense Supply Center Gold Award. Aimtek has also achieved elite Supplier Gold status with United Technologies Corp. since 2010.

In 2000, Aimtek acquired Bay State Surface Technologies, an industry pioneer and manufacturer of thermal spray equipment and materials. Bay State manufactures quality plasma and twin-wire arc spray equipment and materials that are widely used for thermal barrier protection, wear resistance, build-up, and corrosion resistance.
